Wired Magazine wanted to know if it's possible to just disappear and start a new life somewhere else. They promised their writer, Evan Ratliff, $3000 if he could stay hidden for a month, and they promised the internet crowd $5000 if they could find him.
It turns out that social media sites like Facebook and Twitter played a very big role in the hunt. The story is long but well worth reading.
